The Bundeswehr is technically now a motorsports sponsor.

On Wednesday, Haupt Racing Team announced a new partnership with the German Armed Forces that emblazons the team’s Ford Mustang GT3 in a new livery that’ll be used in the Nürburgring Endurance Series and May’s Nürburgring 24 Hours.

The base pattern of the livery is “Polygon für Alle” (“Polygon for All”), a 3D polygonal camouflage version of the flecktarn worn by the Bundeswehr. The pattern is not used on the actual combat uniforms and is solely for branding purposes.

The Iron Cross is prominently featured on the hood atop the Bundeswehr name. The roof bears the phrase “Mit Uns Den Diest Wagen!” (“Dare to Serve with Us!”) while the rear wing has a link to the military career site Bundeswehr Karriere.

Of course, the car is intended to help drum up recruitment for the German military. Amid increasing tensions across Europe with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, enlistment numbers have risen since 2025. While conscription ended in 2011, the military launched a questionnaire at the start of this year for men who just turned 18 to determine if they are capable for service.

One major theater that recruiters focus on are motor shows and race tracks, setting up tents and vans for attendees to learn more. The annual Tag der Bundeswehr has also proven to be a popular way to connect with civilians.

While the Bundeswehr has backed its members in motorsports, HRT is the first time they officially sponsored a racing entity, a deal that came together via SKH Sports.

“The collaboration with the Bundeswehr is a great honor for HRT,” said team CEO Ulrich Fritz. “Motorsport and the military have a lot in common. Both fields depend on commitment, team spirit, and technology. This is especially true for the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, where people and equipment are pushed to their limits.

“We are delighted to be tackling this challenge together and raising the profile of the Bundeswehr as a modern, attractive employer.”

Indeed, a career truck will be at the Nürburgring 24 Hours as well.

“The Bundeswehr offers a wide range of career and development opportunities in technology, medicine, IT, logistics, and much more, both in military and civilian roles,” offered brigadier general Walter Schulte, who overseees recruiting at the Federal Office of Personnel Management. “Our partnership with the Haupt Racing Team allows us to showcase these opportunities where teamwork and motivation converge. This collaboration is an authentic way to combine sports and vocation.”
