After a successful 2025 in NORRA, the Vintage Scout Race Program will head to the Mint 400 for the first time. Sean Barber and his son Owen will once again pilot the Race Terra, though they’ve swapped out the red-and-beige livery for a blue-white-red look to celebrate the United States’ 250th birthday.

Other changes include installing a new set of LED lights from KC HiLiTES to create “that vintage desert feel”.

“We are excited to announce that Scout Motors has stayed on board and will continue to support the Vintage Scout Race Program as its premier sponsor for the 2026 racing season,” reads a team statement. “They have played a pivotal role via support since we built and raced Race Terra 1.0 in 2023. Very thankful for their team and their willingness to support the vintage Scout platform.

“With a new season comes a special livery that is rooted in the legacy of the International Scout. In collaboration with Scout Motors, we feel it is the perfect livery for this year.”

After the original Race Terra was destroyed in a crash at the 2024 Mexican 1000, Barber and his crew built a new car for 2025. It won Legend 4×4 at both the 1000 and NORRA 500.

Scout Motors is a revival of the International Harvester marque that was killed off in 1980. The Vintage Scout Race Program debuted at the 2023 Mexican 1000, marking the first start for a Scout since the 1982 Baja 1000.

The Barbers will run the Mint’s Limited Race on Friday. It’ll be the team’s first time competing in the event.
