Dave Mason Jr. will have to miss the Mint 400 after tearing his ACL, spraining his MCL, and damaging his meniscus. The injuries occurred over the weekend when he was riding his dirt bike, putting his foot down but getting it twisted in a rut.

“I didn’t even crash the bike,” Mason remarked.

“I’ll probably have to have surgery within the next couple of weeks. I don’t know the timeline from there, but we’ll know soon on how long it will take to recover. I want to do the right thing, get healed up and then return to racing when I’m ready.”

Mason was scheduled to race a TSCO Trophy Truck in the Unlimited Race. It was a step up from the usual buggies he raced such as the Class 1 he drove to victory in the 2025 Mexican 1000. He wasn’t a stranger to trucks though, having driven a Pro 2 in Championship Off-Road competition.

Despite being sidelined for now, he’ll still be at the Limited Race on Friday to support his cousin DJ, who is racing a Class 1/2-1600. Mason will also be at contingency on Fremont Street on Thursday.
