The Campbells have been part of the Honda family for years. Besides racing their products with immense success, Johnny Campbell fields Honda bikes under the JCR Honda banner while brother Jamie runs aftermarket dealer Raceco-USA.
On Wednesday, American Honda announced the creation of Team Raceco Honda as the new Talon factory desert racing team. Ricky Brabec and Ricky Torres will debut the effort in Friday’s Mint 400 Limited Race, competing in the UTV Pro class with Madison Ebberts and Chris Arreaza as co-drivers.
“I bleed Honda red,” said Jamie Campbell. “I’m very grateful for the opportunities that Honda has presented to me over the years. Desert racing has always been my biggest passion, so with this new program, I’m excited to get back to my roots.”
Honda Off-Road Factory Racing, run by Jeff Proctor, had been the flagship Talon program for SCORE and other desert events until its shutdown at the end of 2025 because American Honda wanted to go in a “different direction”. Corbin Leaverton, who was the Talon factory driver and even brought Red Bull sponsorship with him, has since joined Can-Am.
Raceco was previously the Honda Talon’s factory team in Championship Off-Road with Dave Mason Jr. During the program’s first year in 2023, Mason won in Pro Stock SxS at the Crandon World Cup.
Brabec is a two-time Dakar Rally bike winner for Monster Energy Honda HRC who occasionally races Talons. In 2024, he and fellow Honda rally rider Skyler Howes won UTV Pro NA at the Mint. Torres has won SCORE’s Pro UTV NA title twice.
Jamie’s nephew and Johnny’s son Preston also does rallies for Monster Energy HRC. The younger Campbell and Brabec won the Mint’s Motorcycle Race in 2025, and the former is set to go for his third in a row on Saturday with Nolan Cate as teammate.
“Off-road racing has been an important proving ground for Honda powersports products for generations, so we’re pleased to partner with Team Raceco Honda to take on the inaugural season of the American Off-Road Racing Championship,” American Honda racing and advertising manager Brandon Wilson offered. “Jamie Campbell has been a part of the Honda family since the ’90s, and his team has demonstrated a deep understanding of the Talon platform.
“We’re confident that Team Raceco Honda will effectively leverage the AORRC’s UTV Pro division to showcase the performance and durability that define Honda side-by-sides.”
The team also plans to do the other AORC races, though drivers for those events have not been revealed.
