The Minotor CH1’s racing debut has been postponed yet again. This time, ReulSport had to withdraw the T3 from the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal because organizers don’t have the means or resources to assist hybrid cars.

The team released the following statement on Tuesday:

Introducing new technology always brings challenges, especially when it appears for the first time in competition.

Minotor was registered for the Rally-Raid Portugal. Unfortunately, our entry could not be accepted this time, as the local safety and medical teams felt they did not have sufficient time to prepare for the introduction of this new technology.

Working closely with the FIA, we continue to focus on organisation and safety preparation. Minotor was — and remains — fully ready, meeting extremely high security and technical standards.

Our registration announcement simply came a little too late for the local forces and medical responders to prepare exactly as they would have wished. We fully understand and respect the organizers’ position, and we appreciate their commitment to safety.

The important part: Minotor is ready, the work continues, and we are already preparing the next rally-raid events.

The Minotor was originally supposed to debut at the Dakar Rally in January, but was put off as ReulSport wanted to continue development and iron out any kinks. Two cars were supposed to take part driven by Stéphane Sarrazin and Luís Portela Morais.

As a hybrid, the car was due to compete in the T3.U subcategory. It is the second such vehicle to be produced for the subclass after Apache Automotive’s APH line.

Sarrazin, a sports car veteran, was also due to race the Minotor at Portugal. Had the debut taken place, the Minotor would’ve been one of two new T3 cars in the race alongside the Viking Challenger.
