Instead of the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal, Sherco Rally Factory Team has opted to enter the Carta Rallye in April to further refine their desert program.
Sherco is coming off a disastrous Dakar Rally in January. Harith Noah crashed out for the second year in a row during the first stage, then Lorenzo Santolino had his own accident the next day. This left Bradley Cox as the last man standing for the team, only for trouble to strike himself when the fuel pump broke 91 kilometers from the Stage 7 finish. Tiziano InternĆ³ towed him back to the bivouac to keep him in the race, and he went on to finish ninth in RallyGP.
While it would be easy to chalk up Dakar to freak bad luck, Sherco doesn’t want to take any chances for future races. The team isn’t registered to earn World Rally-Raid Championship either, so they can skip rounds like Portugal without much issue (Noah is earning Rally2 points, though all riders in the class do so).
The Carta Rallye will take place on April 18ā24. While it’s nearly a month after Portugal, logistics and investment mean Sherco will be focused on getting everything to Morocco.
“Excited to try out a new race and see new places in Morocco that we will be going through,” said Cox. He joined Sherco in 2025.
