After debuting in this year’s rally, Aventure Girousse plans to return to the Africa Eco Race Historic in 2027.
“We’ll be there for the 2027 Africa Race,” team owner Gilles Girousse proclaimed on Wednesday.
In January’s AER Historic, Aventure Girousse fielded a Toyota Land Cruiser HDJ80 for its leader along with an HDJ100 for Philippe Voisin. 2022 Dakar Classic winner Serge Mogno and Pierre Bourdeau took part in cars from Girousse, albeit under their own banners. Jonathan and Élodie Metge competed in a Range Rover V8 prepped by the team to resemble their father René’s 1981 Dakar Rally winner.
While he’s done modern races too (most recently the 2025 Rallye Breslau and Fenix Rally), Girousse is deeply passionate about the sport’s history and thus can be found more often at vintage raids. He competed in the 2022 Dakar Classic and even created the L’Oasis L’Original Classic partly because he was unhappy with the lack of care that organizers of other rallies gave to historic cars.
The 2026 L’Oasis L’Original Classic will take place in Tunisia as part of a new collaboration with the Fenix Rally.
