G3 Argyros, a former short course driver before entering the IndyCar developmental ladder, is taking a bit of a different route from his family’s lineage in business and diplomacy. Still, he’s more than aware and celebratory of the Argyros legacy in the latter.

His aunt Melissa is currently the United States’ ambassador to Latvia. She was nominated by President Donald Trump in March 2025, the first to be appointed to such a position since Charles Larson in 2008 as opposed to being selected as a foreign service officer, and sworn in on January 12. Argyros presented her credentials to Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs on February 20.

“I am immensely proud of this new chapter in her life, answering the call of duty to our country,” he wrote in a Thursday post. “She carries on her father’s legacy in becoming the second Ambassador Argyros for our great country.”

George Argyros, father of “Lisa” and grandfather to G3, was previously the ambassador to Spain and Andorra under George W. Bush from 2001 to 2004. A billionaire, he also used to own the Seattle Mariners in the 1980s.

G3’s dad George Jr., while not involved in international affairs as his father, was a businessman and philanthropist who supported his son’s racing career. George III, who goes by G3 for short, competed in karting before trying out short course.

He entered the newly-formed Great American Shortcourse in 2021. Competing in J2 Karts, he swept the inaugural weekend at the SBC Fairgrounds before finishing fourth in points with Rookie of the Year honors. He added another ROTY award in Mod Kart a year later.

Argyros eventually got back on asphalt in USF Juniors, placing fourth in the 2025 standings before graduating to UF Pro 2000. After the season opener in Arlington, he sits fifth in points with a runner-up in Race 2.

While his time in short course was brief, he credits it with improving his car control.

GAS has since shut down.
