Bruno Bozzo is close to making his Dakar Rally debut in 2027, but he—like others with a provisional acceptance from the ASO such as Matthew Ransom and Justin Jumet—must complete the Rallye du Maroc to make it official.

Bozzo is a 23-year-old rider from Chile. After winning three titles in the national motocross championship, he moved to Valencia to compete in enduro. As a factory rider for Rieju, he won the 2024 Spanish enduro title and the C3 class at the 2023 International Six Days Enduro, the latter making him the first Chilean class winner at the ISDE. After missing time to a kidney injury, Bozzo competed in the FIM Enduro World Championship in 2024 and 2025.

A severe knee injury and his grandfather’s passing from ALS prompted a switch to rally raids.

“I didn’t just lose my grandfather. I lost my best friend, the person who awakened this passion in me and the man who taught me that dreams require hard work every day,” said Bozzo. “In one of the hardest moments of my life, I made the most important decision. I wasn’t going to wait any longer: it was time to make the leap into rally racing and begin paving the way to Dakar, the dream we imagined together so many times.

“The day after surgery, I was already studying navigating from my hospital bed. It wasn’t a Plan B. It was a lifelong plan. Today, I know I’m ready.”

Even though he’s only been doing rallies for about half a year, Bozzo has already taken well to the new discipline. He sits second in the Spanish national championship and finished third overall (second in M2) at the Hellas Rally Raid in June.

Bozzo also placed runner-up overall at the Baja TT Dehesa Extremadura. Although he wasn’t an FIM points-earning rider, it was his first time competing in an FIM Bajas World Cup event.

While a solid résumé already, the ASO wants him to add a full-length desert rally before giving the thumbs up. Thus, he plans to do Morocco.

He has started a GoFundMe to help cover the €20,000 in expenses for the RdM.

“I have always believed that the biggest dreams are never achieved alone,” reads the fundraiser. “I hope that one day, I can cross the finish line of the Dakar knowing there were thousands of people who decided to press forward with me when I needed it most.”
