Welcome to September. With fall approaching, your days will soon be shorter and your nights longer. This means visiting this site at nighttime is more likely to occur.

This also means you’re more likely to get flashbanged because of how white the site design is.

Worry no more, my friend. Thanks to a swanky plug-in called DarkLooks, we now have night mode to put less strain on your eyes. A switch is available at the bottom right of the page to toggle between light and dark, though it can also happen automatically based on your system settings.

There are still some kinks to work out, but overall, you shouldn’t have to worry about looking into a lamp if you want to read our articles in the dead of night.

Speaking of changes to the site, we have also added a section at the bottom of every story called “Article topics”. We’re not going to give you any buzzwords about what this means: they’re literally just article tags with a fancy name. Click on them to go to a more specific topic than you would with a category.

Tags used to be private and mostly used by the staff to keep things organized, but we figured it might be more convenient to our readers if they can access them too. If you’ve been using Watch Party to follow desert races, you could already search by tags thanks to our partnership with that platform.

The topics are pretty straightforward. There are tags for specific races, racers mentioned, and so on. Not everybody discussed will be listed in the tags, however; for example, you might notice the tags for a recap are often just the winners and maybe a handful of others of note. Of course, this will likely change and the section will be more populated for stories published since this announcement.
