After winning the Africa Eco Race on debut in the T1.1 class, Magdalena Zajac expects to resume her usual schedule focusing on the Morocco Desert Challenge and FIA European Baja Cup.
“We’re kicking off with the Morocco Desert Challenge, our favorite rally,” began Zajac in a video posted by Proxcars TME Rally Team on Saturday. It’s likely the second longest of the season after the Arfica Eco Race with 3,500 kilometers of special stages. Then we’ll porbably compete in the European Cup.”
After finishing 45th in Ultimate at her second Dakar Rally in 2024, Zajac eschewed the 2025 edition in favor of the Africa Eco Race. While the Dakar is obviously the more prestigious event, she was drawn to the AER as it follows the original Dakar route from Europe to Senegal and thus offered a different challenge from what she’s used to.
Racing her usual Toyota Hilux Zajac went on to set the fastest time among the five T1.1 entrants in six stages en rotue to the overall win for her subclass. She also ranked seventh for all cars.
February and March are slower months for the team before focusing on the MDC in April. She finished third in T1.1 and 13th in cars at last year’s race.
The 2025 European Baja Cup kicks off in May with the Baja TT Dehesa Extremadura. It spans nine rounds long, over twice as long as the 2024 season, since half of the calendar overlaps with the World Baja Cup. Zajac finished 11th in the 2024 overall standings and third for Ultimate drivers, the latter including a runner-up at the Italian Baja.
