Fidel Castillo Ruiz will make his racing return later this month at the Baja Aragón, where he has joined Nasser Racing. He will drive a Taurus T3 Max.
Castillo has been out since May, when he ruptured his medial meniscus and PCL in a training accident. He underwent surgery and has not raced since, consequently missing the Baja Greece and Italian Baja. His absence also would have forced him to miss the series’ Baja Troia Türkiye, which took place days after his injury, though he was not entered.
He finished fourth in SSV at the EBC-opening Baja TT Dehesa Extremadura. Earlier in the year, he was ninth in class at the Dakar Rally.
An injury had also prevented him from making a run at the 2024 European Baja Cup. While sitting second in the SSV standings, he broke his collarbone in a crash at the Hungarian Baja that forced him to miss the Baja TT Sharish Gin and ultimately knock him out of contention. He’d finish the season third in the SSV standings.
Once again healthy, he now joins Nasser Al-Attiyah’s team for Aragón. Nasser Racing will also field a Taurus in the class for Cristina Gutiérrez.
The Baja España Aragón will take place on July 24–27. It is the fifth round of the 2025 FIA World and European Baja Cups.
