Dave Mason Jr. has withdrawn from this weekend’s Crandon World Championship following an emergency within the family. Although he reassured the situation is under control, he will not take part in order to stick with his loved ones.

He wrote on Wednesday:

Family first: Unfortunately my team and I will not be racing in Crandon this weekend. We had an unexpected family emergency come up that I had to fly home for yesterday evening. Everything will be okay, but it’s a difficult time and we need to be together. Because of this, we had to make the tough decision to pull the plug before the weekend started.

I want to thank my crew members, my parents, and my sponsors for understanding and being supportive of this decision. Everyone has worked very hard to get us ready and have a shot at winning some races this weekend. Ultimately, it’s a big bummer to miss competing at the Big House, but there will be many more races ahead and we need to focus on what’s most important.

See you guys at the Baja 400 and Glen Helen next month. Good luck to everyone racing.

Mason planned to compete in Pro 2 and Pro Buggy, the former of which includes competing in the Red Bull Crandon World Cup against Pro 4s.

He last raced the World Championship weekend in 2023. At this year’s Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run in June, he placed 11th in the Pro 2 vs. Pro 4 race. Mason also won the 2024 Brush Run in Pro Buggy.

With Crandon out of the picture, his next focus is on the Baja 400 two weeks after Crandon. Championship Off-Road ends its season at Glen Helen in late September.

Mason won the NORRA Mexican 100 overall in May.
