Extreme E will return for one final race weekend on October 4–5. Officially called the “Final Lap”, the two rounds will be held in Saudi Arabia as the site of the electric series’ inaugural race in 2021.
The Hydro X Prix in July 2024 was the most recent XE round, after which the rest of the season was canceled as Alejandro Agag and series officials decided to focus on the transition to Extreme H.
Upon conclusion of the Final Lap, the Odyssey 21 will be formally sunsetted and the series completes its switch to Extreme H. An XH schedule has yet to be revealed.
Saudi Arabia is the only country to hold an Extreme E race in all four seasons, all dubbed the Desert X Prix. The 2021 edition was held in Al-‘Ula while NEOM was the site of the 2022 and 2023 editions. Jeddah hosted the 2024 weekend.
“The Final Lap will be an opportunity to celebrate everything Extreme E has achieved, at the same time setting the next frontier for Extreme H, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s ambition to be the hub for innovative, world-class motorsport and a leader in shaping a sustainable future,” reads a series statement.
“This transition reflects Extreme E’s vision to use sport as a platform for innovation, awareness, and action. While the cars and energy sources may evolve, the commitment to purposeful racing remains unchanged.”
