The upcoming Rallye du Maroc will mark the first race for the EBRO s800 XRR, the T1+ car from the Spanish manufacturer. Laia Sanz will pilot it under the EBRO Audax Motorsport banner, the team’s name coming from a partnership between EBRO and energy company Audax Renovables.

“The creation of the EBRO Audax Motorsport team is a milestone for us,” said EBRO CEO Pedro Calef. “Less than a year ago, we began marketing the brand’s first vehicles. Since then, we have launched three models, developed a continuously growing network of 80 dealerships, sponsored the Spanish national football team, and now a very special stage begins with our project for the Dakar.”

EBRO, a revival of the 20th century truck manufacturer, revealed the rally program in July. Its European dealer EV Motors previously entered the 2022 Dakar Rally’s Dakar Future challenge with an EBRO electric vehicle.

The s800 name comes from EBRO’s production seven-seat SUV, which comes in both hybrid and gas-based versions. However, the s800 XRR closely resembles the Century CR7 as some pages were taken from Century Racing’s book; incidentally, Sanz had been in Century’s cars at Dakar in recent years, including the T1.2 CR6-T in 2025.

Sanz was signed to drive the car in September. Maurizio Gerini, who usually calls the shots for her, is unavailable for Morocco due to appendicitis so Taye Perry became her navigator instead.

“Being here and seeing the project take off is a dream come true,” Sanz commented. “Having a T1+ is what I’ve been looking for since I started racing in a car. I treasure this opportunity very much and I appreciate the trust that EBRO has placed in me. I’m sure that together we will grow and that, with hard work, the results will come.

“We’re facing our first race as a big test to prepare for our Dakar goal. It’ll help us get the team, the EBRO s800 XRR, and myself in sync since I’m moving from 4×2 vehicles to 4×4. We’re not considering the result, and just want to be satisfied with the work we’ve done.”
