Ancestry, the largest genealogy company in the world, will sponsor the upcoming Goodwood Revival with various activations. Goodwood signed a three-year agreement with the company in August.
“We are delighted to welcome Ancestry to Goodwood Revival. They bring a fresh and highly personal dimension to our celebration of history and heritage,” Goodwood chief commercial officer Nathan Kosky stated. “Revival is all about experiencing the sights, style and stories of the past through a modern lens, so the opportunity to help our visitors discover more about their own family stories is a natural fit.”
The Best Dressed Competition will be sponsored by Ancestry, as are a studio for the contest’s participants to have their pictures taken professionally and a 1950s-themed lounge. Ancestry will also host a panel on the Revival Style Stage where guests have their family lineages traced and revealed live.
Ancestry is best known for its DNA kit program and record archive that allow users to track their pedigrees. The Utah-based firm states it has over 71 billion records digitized across 80+ countries with 30 million people involved in the “world’s largest consumer DNA network”.
It also has several subsidiaries related to both family history and the past in general. Know Your Pet DNA offers a similar program to its human counterpart for dogs. Archives.com focuses on censuses and other related documents, while Fold3 does so for military personnel and veterans. Arguably the most well-known brand in Ancestry’s portfolio is Find a Grave, which it has owned since 2013.
For the historian like 131 Off-Road‘s roving reporter, Newspapers.com is by far Ancestry’s best asset. It was created in 2012 by spinning off the newspaper archive into a separate website, offering over 1.2 billion pages of newspapers across 31,400-plus publications. If you read any of our history-related articles with references at the end (like our Baja Poland recap for the most recent example), you might notice some of the links lead to clippings from Newspapers.com.
“Goodwood Revival’s passion for tradition and storytelling makes it a natural fit for Ancestry,” said Ancestry’s British marketing director Guljeet Samra. “We are so excited to bring together these two heritage-driven brands. This partnership gives us an incredible platform on which to connect with people who love history, offering visitors an unforgettable opportunity to explore their own family roots within the most iconic of settings.”
The Goodwood Revival will take place on September 18–20.
