GeaLife Motorsport will be a two-truck effort at the 2026 Dakar Classic. Besides bringing back their 1987 IVECO Magirus with Giorgio Porello behind the wheel, the Italian outfit is also going to field a new 1986 IVECO 190.30 for team co-owner Giuseppe Simonato.
The team revealed their Dakar program on Saturday. Porello, who joined the team in August, will have Simone Casadei as navigator and Gianluca Capelli in the mechanic’s seat for the Magirus. In the 190.30, Simonato will drive with Syndiely Wade and Alex Sorbelli by his side.
Also known as the “Musone”, the Magirus ANW 150.16 was previously used as an assistance vehicle for teams competing in the Paris–Dakar Rally. Simonato eventually converted the truck for the Dakar Classic with help from IVECO Orecchia and Sabio Fuels, the latter providing a biodiesel fuel for the Magirus. The truck also comes six-liter, six-cylinder Deutz turbocharged engine.
The 190.30 was completely rebuilt with a new six-cylinder FPT Cursor 10 engine.
If 2026 goes well, the team hopes to add a third truck to the program. They also have an IVECO Turbo Daily 35.10W van that will serve as a support vehicle.
At this year’s Classic, GeaLife Motorsport’s Magirus and Simonato retired after four stages due to injury sustained by navigator Alessio Bentivoglio.
