Compagnie Saharienne is adding something more modern to their fleet. During the Dakar Classic’s rest day on Saturday, the team announced they will start fielding a Can-Am Maverick R in traditional speed-based rally raids as well like the Dakar Rally.

The team currently prepares Toyota Land Cruisers for vintage raids. They have four entrants for the 2026 Dakar Classic: HZJ78s for Shammie Baridwan (eighth overall) and Kim Matzen (19th), and HDJ100s for Julian Johan (12th) and Sanjay Takale (retired),

“After five years of development on this event, we are taking a new step forward with a clear objective: performance. Same level of service, same standards, same family spirit,” said the team.

“This SSV, prepared to the highest level and built by a manufacturer with six consecutive Dakar victories, is designed for competition. The T4 / SSV category now stands as one of the most complete gateways to the Dakar, offering the ideal balance between accessibility, reliability and performance.

“From the Dakar Rally to the W2RC, Compagnie Saharienne offers its expertise to deliver an exclusive experience at the heart of the world’s most demanding races. Experience the daily life of a factory driver, behind the wheel of one of the most competitive machines in the world, with the Arrive & Drive support that has made our success in the Classic category.”

The Maverick R is one of the most popular choices of SSV today. Six stages into the Dakar Rally, it has one stage win courtesy of Can-Am Factory Team member Kyle Chaney. Chaney had also become the first UTV driver to win the Race of Kings at King of the Hammers last year in his Maverick R.
