The 2026 Sonora Rally will run from March 16 to 20, starting in Puerto Peñasco and finishing in San Luis Río Colorado.
The tentative rally guide released on Thursday states it will run for approximately 1,450 kilometers total.
Tech inspection and registration will take place on March 15 at the Hotel Playa Bonita. Campo La Salina, a campground along the Sea of Cortez, will serve as the bivouac for the second half before heading to San Luis Río Colorado. The final headquarters will be at the Hotel Araiza.
Registration opened on December 9 with $4,500 each for UTV and cars; $3,900 for Pro Moto; and $3,500 for Enduro, Thumper Moto, and Quad. After January 20, those prices will go up by $200 apiece.
Despite no longer being on the W2RC calendar, Sonora remains one of the few non-championship races on the Road to Dakar. The top SSV with no prior Dakar Rally experience will earn free registration for the 2027 (or 2028) race, while all bike finishers who’ve never done Dakar get six points to bolster their chances of being approved.
