Peter Schey and his brother Chris have been doing the Dakar Classic in odd-numbered years, meaning they didn’t take part in January but will in 2027. It will be their third Classic, but they’ve traded in their Nissan Terrano for an Audi Quattro.

The brothers made their debut in 2023, where they finished 28th overall in their Terrano. They took 2024 off as their car stayed in Europe while they returned home to Melbourne, where Peter is an engineer while Chris works as a firefighter. Both also compete in Victoria’s rally championship together, with Peter winning the 2018 CAMS MRF Tyres South Australian Rally Championship.

In 2025, the Scheys returned to their Terrano and improved to 13th overall. They were also third in H2.B.

While the Nissan has certainly been a solid car, they decided to step things up for next year by switching to what RallySport Magazine called a “Group B-inspired” Quattro. The Quattro is an icon of the WRC in the 1980s, with four taking part in 2025.
