Brock Heger is one of the top desert racers today, and by far the best in the UTV racing business. But how would he fare on asphalt in a Crown Vic?

He’ll find out on Friday after being named a last-minute addition to the Freedom 500 at the Freedom Factory in Bradenton, Florida. The race puts a who’s-who of racing stars, celebrities, and friends in identical Ford Crown Victorias for 100 laps.

The race and track are run by Cleetus McFarland, who revealed a partnership with Polaris earlier this week. Heger races for the manufacturer’s factory team.

Despite his insanely stacked résumé that includes wins and championships at the Dakar Rally, Mint 400, King of the Hammers, and SCORE, pavement racing—much less on ovals—is a new foray for Heger.

Fortunately, he won’t be the only person from the off-road world taking part. Wyatt Miller is coming off winning Championship Off-Road’s Pro SPEC title, while Lia Block is a Baja 1000 class winner and rally driver whereas Brad DeBerti starred in LOORRS. Jim York has occasionally shown up to the Mint 400. Brian Deegan raced alongside Heger at King of the Hammers earlier this year. McFarland, NASCAR veteran Kenny Wallace, and Dave Sparks are Stadium Super Trucks alumni like Heger. Of course, defending Freedom 500 winner Travis Pastrana needs no introduction.
