Myles Cheek and Max Gordon have been the Stadium Super Trucks’ top drivers at Long Beach in recent years, and that pattern continued Friday as they led practice and qualifying.
Cheek was the fastest qualifier for the first time in his SST career, beating Gordon by .347 seconds. They were the only drivers to set times below a minute and 45 seconds, though they were still a second slower than what Matt Brabham had in 2025 to win the pole.
Gordon and Cheek won both Long Beach races last year and in 2024.
Robby Gordon qualified third ahead of Brabham. Both trucks have SPEED Energy sponsorship, though the latter also has the backing of Sino-United Common International (中联共同国际) on the rear quarter panels. Bill Hynes rounded out the top five.
Trey Hernquist was sixth, then Shaun Richardson in his first Long Beach start since 2022.
Zoey Edenholm ranked eighth.
At the back are series newcomers Blake Wilkey and JC Meynet. The former is a desert star while the latter has starred in Trans-Am and time attacks.
