Nitrocross was a unique brand of rallycross that included short course elements, but Robin Larsson has never done the latter discipline in its purest form. He’d certainly love to, though, especially in a Pro 4 truck.

Larsson was one of the most successful drivers in Nitrocross, winning both Group E championships until the series was disbanded midway through the 2024–25 season while he was the points leader. In 23 starts across the category, he won eight times with 18 podiums. Group E’s FC1-X cars were eventually acquired by RallyX Americas, whose inaugural season kicks off at Crandon International Raceway.

Crandon, of course, is the mecca of short course. The RallyX Americas opener will be held as part of the Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run Speed Festival, which concludes with the always popular Pro 2 vs. Pro 4 race. RallyX had also hosted a demo there last September as part of the Crandon World Cup weekend.

“I’m really looking forward to Crandon,” said Larsson. “The track, atmosphere and to see the Pro 4 cars, that’s a real bucket list car for me to drive and it will be fun to be in the same event at them.”

He will compete in RallyX for JC Raceteknik. It’ll be his first action in nearly two years, having taken a hiatus after Nitrocross’ demise.

“I’m really looking forward to go racing, especially in the USA again,” Larsson continued. “”Everything was settled really late and I haven’t even been thinking about the racing and competition that much, but of course will when the helmet comes on, it is full focus. We want to make the series and racing look good so we can hopefully build something for the future.”
