Timo Gottschalk is on the mend after suffering several broken ribs on his left side when he fell from his motorcycle. He is in stable condition but needs “a few weeks of recovery”, meaning he won’t be able to race for a while.
“That really hurts – but sometimes these things happen,” Gottschalk remarked. “Now the focus is on recovery. I’ll do everything I can to get fit again as quickly as possible and hopefully be back in the co-driver’s seat next to Yazeed as soon as possible.”
His and Yazeed Al-Rajhi’s next race was supposed to be the rescheduled Baja Aragón on September 11–13. The Rallye du Maroc, the next World Rally-Raid Championship event, begins on September 28.
Al-Rajhi is currently 12th in the W2RC drivers’ standings, while Gottschalk sits 11th on the navigators’ side. The disparity exists because Lucas Cruz started the season as Carlos Sainz’s co-driver before being replaced by Daniel Oliveiras. While it’s been a tough season in the W2RC, especially as the duo had finished runner-up in 2024, they were second overall at the Saudi Baja in late January.
