Kay Huzink and his uncle Gert will now race under the Huzink Rally Sport banner, changing from Kuipers-Jongbloed Hybrid and forming a partnership with Team de Rooy. HRS’ first race will be the Rallye du Maroc with Kay before heading to the Dakar Rally.

The new alliance with de Rooy means the Huzinks are now in black-and-red IVECO PowerStars rather than the blue-and-yellow Renault C460. While only Kay is doing Morocco as the new team leader, Gert will be present in a supporting role before racing his own truck at Dakar.

“With Huzink Rally Sport, we are truly embarking on something new,” a team statement reads. “We are bringing our rich experience, history, and lessons learned from the successful Riwald years and the past seasons with us, but above all, we are looking ahead. We are immensely proud of the new name, new colors, and the team’s image.

“The fact that we have Kay, a brand-new stage winner and proven top talent, as our lead driver gives the entire team a huge boost. We have every confidence that this will allow us to take him to the top of our sport. Furthermore, the fact that we will be appearing at the 2027 Dakar Rally start with two trucks, Gert alongside Kay, underscores our great ambitions. The collaboration with Team De Rooy and the FPT engine make this new chapter extra special.”

The team began as Riwald Dakar Team before rebranding to Kuipers-Jongbloed Hybrid Dakar Team. After skipping the 2025 Dakar since the Renault hybrid truck wasn’t able to comply with new FIA regulations, Kay and Gert respectively finished seventh and 20th in the Truck category this year.

Kay also won the 2025 and 2026 Morocco Desert Challenges in Truck.
