Greg Biffle and Kyle Busch, NASCAR greats who dabbled in off-road racing, were posthumously named the co-winners of the Comcast Community Champion of the Year Award on Tuesday.

This is the first time in the award’s history that it’s been given to multiple people in the same year. It is awarded to anyone within NASCAR, such as drivers, owners, media, and officials, who have contributed to philanthropic efforts throughout the year.

“Kyle and Greg represented what this award stands for, using their platforms to make a difference well beyond the sport,” Comcast’s brand engagement executive Matt Lederer stated. “Through their compassion, generosity and commitment to helping others, they made a lasting impact on countless lives. We are proud to name Kyle and Greg co-champions and celebrate two extraordinary legacies that will continue to inspire others.”

Biffle and his family died in a plane crash in December, while Busch passed away from sepsis brought on by pneumonia in May. Both were Cup Series stars, the former winning 19 races while the latter was a two-time champion, and were also champs in the second tier.

In 2010, Busch did a one-off in TORC where he raced a Pro 2 at Route 66 Raceway, then tried Nitro Rallycross in 2021.

Likewise, Biffle competed in the Stadium Super Trucks on a sporadic basis between 2018 and 2021, racking up four podium finishes. He also ran the Sand Outlaw Series and Pace Offroad UTV.

Kyle and his wife Samantha Busch founded The Bundle of Joy Fund in 2015, which aims to support families dealing with infertility and other conception challenges. Their son Brexton, who’s followed in his dad’s footsteps, was born via IVF in 2015 while their daughter Lennix was born through surrogacy. The Bundle of Joy Fund has awarded over $2.5 million in fertility grants to nearly 200 families, with 114 babies being born from such financial aid.

Biffle and fellow SST alumnus-turned-NASCAR driver Cleetus McFarland airlifted supplies and residents in danger following Hurricane Helene in 2024. After his passing, the Biffle Family Legacy Impact Fund was started in partnership with the Foundation For The Carolinas.

Comcast will award $60,000 apiece to The Bundle of Joy Fund and the Biffle Family Legacy Impact Fund.
