Cody Webb is pretty good at navigating through challenging terrain on two wheels. He probably won’t be doing it on four wheels anytime soon, though.

Webb celebrated his 37th birthday on Saturday by riding shotgun in fellow Red Bull athlete Seth Quintero’s Toyota GR DKR Hilux. Quintero was in Austria to check out the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo, which Webb was competing in.

While Webb has accomplished plenty in his career as a two-time AMA Endurocross champion who’s also starred in the FIM Superenduro World Championship and won the 2010 NATC Trials Championship, being the co-driver in the Hilux was certainly something else. Quintero turned laps around the quarry with Webb, still rocking his bike helmet, in the navigator’s seat.

“It’s not even real life. Like, nothing compares to that,” said Webb. “Like a video game, you can’t do that. He’s so unreal, how good he is. The whole time, he’s adjusting everything.

“I know I can drive a car. There’s no way I could do that. I’d rather have him drive. I’m a co-driver.”

Hard enduro isn’t exactly rally raid, but there certainly has been overlap between the disciplines. Cyril Despres has won both the Dakar Rally and Erzbergrodeo, while current Dakar winner Daniel Sanders competed in the Iron Road Prologue prior to Sunday’s main event.

Quintero is currently fourth in the World Rally-Raid Championship points after three rounds. The Erzbergrodeo took place just a week after the South African Safari Rally, where he finished seventh overall, and he had placed ninth at the Dakar Rally and third at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge in the first two races.
