The Hungarian Baja will be an FIA-only affair in 2025. On Friday, organizers announced bikes and quads will not be at the race in August due to “several years of declining interest”.

Scheduled for August 14–16, the race was supposed to be the sixth round of the 2025 FIM Bajas World Cup. Friday’s news means the season will be seven races long instead, with a four-month break between the Baja Aragón in July and the final two races in November.

“We hope that both the motorcycle and car series will be renewed in the near future, becoming more accessible and more popular – something the HunGarian Baja Organizing Committee has been working hard to achieve,” reads a statement from organizers.

“We would like to believe that our efforts will bear fruit, and that we will soon be able to welcome back riders and quad riders to a HunGarian Baja worthy of the World Cup and European Cup in terms of participation and regulations.”

Martim Ventura won the Hungarian Baja for bikes in 2024 while Marcin Wilkołek did so for quads. Péter Kárpáti was the two-wheel victor on the Hungarian Cross-Country Rally Championship side.

The race is held on the Hungarian Defence Forces Bakony Combat Training Centre in Várpalota, a series of military training fields used by both the Hungarian Army and NATO allies. While the FIM has been dropped, the Hungarian Baja remains the sixth round on the FIA European Baja Cup.
