With 2027 set to be the 60-year anniversary of NORRA, the sanctioning body announced on Tuesday the creation of the Baja 10 Day Rally.
As the name suggests, it will span ten days from Ensenada to San José del Cabo and back, essentially going across the length of Baja California twice. Cabo will serve as the rest day.
The ten-day length means the race will be the longest rally in North America. NORRA’s Mexican 1000 and the Baja Rally are six days long, while the Sonora Rally in the eponymous neighboring state spans five stages.
A statement from NORRA proclaims:
This event is more than a race; it is a tribute to the spirit that started it all. From the original Mexican 1000 to modern rally competition, NORRA has always been built by racers, for racers. NORRA’s Baja 10 Day Rally honors that foundation while pushing the limits of what’s possible in North American off-road competition. Teams will face mountains, deserts, beaches, technical sections, high-speed terrain, remote villages, and the raw, unpredictable beauty that only Baja can deliver. Over ten days, preparation and smart pacing will matter as much as speed. Experience will matter as much as horsepower.
Planning begins now – and it begins with the racers. True to NORRA’s DNA, the 2027 event will be shaped by competitor input on stage design, daily mileage, class structure, logistics, and celebration events. The mission remains clear: authenticity over hype, adventure over ego, heritage over trend.
The 60th Anniversary NORRA’s Baja 10 Day Rally invites competitors from around the world to be part of something historic. Vintage legends, modern race machines, moto warriors, rally explorers, Safari entrants, and first-time adventurers will all have a place in this landmark event. For those who have ever dreamed of experiencing Baja fully – not in a sprint, but in a true rally campaign – 2027 offers that opportunity.
The National Off Road Racing Association typically hosts just two events annually with the Mexican 1000 and two-day NORRA 500. The 2015 Cortez Rally was the only other event held by NORRA, long before the creation of the NORRA 500.
NORRA debuted in 1967 with the Mexican 1000 Rally, which later became SCORE’s Baja 1000. The association was shut down afterward before being revived in 2009.
