It is the dawn of a new era at Menzies Motorsports. Starting with the Baja 500, Bryce Menzies will pilot the highly anticipated Gen-2 AWD Trophy Truck built by Mason Motorsports. On Wednesday, he announced the renewal of his partnership with fellow Baja legend Andy McMillin.
After a successful decade with its first-generation all-wheel-drive truck, Mason developed a new truck that was rolled out to Menzies as the quasi-factory driver. The new truck relocated the fuel cell to the back while the engine was moved back too, while the rear axle was redesigned to account for the changing weight distribution as well. It also features a new axle and transmission that split the driveshaft into two ring and pinion gears, which keeps them further away from rocks and therefore less susceptible to damage, as well as a redesigned cooling system.
Menzies plans to debut the truck at the Baja 500 before potentially racing the Vegas to Reno ahead of the Baja 400. Customers will receive them in a year.
McMillin is a six-time Baja 1000 winner who shared a truck with Menzies at the race from 2021 to 2023. The final year of their partnership saw them finally break through to win alongside Tavo Vildósola. Although he stepped away from full-time racing in 2022, McMillin has remained closely involved in the sport.
Menzies finished third overall at SCORE’s season-opening San Felipe 250 in March. His 2025 was one of the lowest lows and highest highs as he missed the Baja 500 due to a stroke, then won the Baja 1000 with Christopher Polvoorde.
