The 2026 NORRA Mexican 1000 spans 1,100.30 miles in Selective Sections and 281.20 miles in liaisons, making it 1,381.50 miles long in total. All but two stages have three specials each for cars; bikes run just one special each day save for two on the last day.
Racing began on Saturday with a 148.90-mile stage from Ensenada to San Felipe. It starts with a road section to Rancho la Vuelta before going through Valle de Trinidad and San Matías Pass and finishing at Pete’s Camp.
Stage 2 begins with a special from San Felipe to Las Delicias, then a road section to El Huerfanito before racing to Chapala. A remote part of the course at KM 252 runs to El Huguay to complete the day’s timed racing before the race heads to the Bay of LA.
Monday’s first section is a liaison to Agua de Higuera before racing to the town of Villa Jesús María. After crossing the town from north to south is a special to Vizcaíno, then one more to San Ignacio’s Desert Inn.
Stage 4’s racing consists of just two Selective Sections. The first runs from El Salitral to San Juanico, then El Mezquital to El Bajo. The La Mision Loreto Hotel welcomes racers for the night.
From Loreto comes Stage 5’s special to Santo Domingo before hitting the road to Ciudad Insurgentes. The race will leave Insurgentes for Santa Rita, followed by another liaison to Puerto Chale. An 85.6-mile section goes to a final remote stop before the liaison to La Paz. Hotel Los Arcos La Paz will be the bivouac.
The sixth and final day starts with a transit to KM 36, where the penultimate SS runs to Todos Santos. La Laguna hosts the final timed run, an 85.30-mile leg to San José del Cabo. The Paseo Centenario will be the site of the finish line.
