Delta4×4’s motorsports division, which competes in the Dakar Classic, has received a new name. What was previously delta4×4 Racing is now DELTA Geländesport.

“Geländesport” is German for “off-road sport”, which rally raids obviously fall under. It also better outlines that arm’s goals as the motorsports arm of delta4×4, which sells off-road accessories and kits.

Run by brothers Maximilian and Laurence Loder, the team did the Dakar Classic in 2024 and 2026 in a Puch 280GE. They finished 47th among cars in the former and 75th at the latter. Both times, their G-Wagon featured a Marlboro-style livery based on what their father Josef drove in the 1985 Paris–Dakar Rally to support BMW Motorrad.

For the 2027 Classic, DELTA Geländesport plans to field a second 280GE. The team also has a partnership with X-raid, and built a fleet of MAN TGE service vans for the latter ahead of January’s race.

Interested customers can either race the aforementioned new Puch or bring their own vehicle. If the latter option is taken, Delta will provide services like roof tents, a dedicated service area, and space in the team’s containers.

It is two weeks of hard work, raw nature and a consistent test of your own limits,” the team’s website proclaims. “For selected drivers we offer an exclusive driver seat in our Puch GE280, the same model Josef Loder piloted at the Dakar in 1985. Fully prepared, professionally supported, with our experienced team at every stage.

“You don’t have to buy a vehicle. You don’t have to build one. You don’t have to spend months sourcing spare parts and putting a team together. You arrive at the start. We have prepared the car, completed scrutineering, submitted the entry and assembled the team.”
