You know UTV racing has been a one-sided affair when the top team puts a bounty on itself. On Tuesday, RZR Factory Racing announced the creation of the Polaris SCORE Challenge in which a $50,000 prize is available to whoever beats the team at the Baja 400 or Baja 1000.

Every UTV driver regardless of manufacturer is eligible for the bounty. If nobody beats RFR at the 400, the $50K rolls over to the 1000.

“The goal of the SCORE Challenge is to reward top racers for racing Baja and create even more opportunities for head-to-head competition at the highest level,” Polaris off-road racing director Alex Scheuerell explained. “When the best teams and drivers compete, everyone benefits—the sport grows, the competition gets stronger, and the fans get the racing they want to see.”

RZR Factory Racing has dominated SCORE’s UTV division since its founding in 2023, with Brock Heger in particular having established himself as easily the best UTV racer today. His teammate Cayden MacCachren has enjoyed much success too, while Joe Terrana has proven to be a threat since defecting from Can-Am and doubly so with the arrival of Rodrigo Ampudia. The team also fields a RZR for Ethan Groom.

It hasn’t been close. The factory team won all eight races entered in 2025 including the entire SCORE season. Dakar Rally? Won by Heger. King of the Hammers? Heger. Mint 400? Yup, that’s a Heger win. Vegas to Reno? Not Heger or RFR, but another Polaris factory driver in Mitch Guthrie.

2026 has been more of the same so far too, with Heger repeating at Dakar, the Toyo Tires Desert Challenge, and the Mint. The SCORE slate began with Heger and Terrana finishing 1–2 at the San Felipe 250 before Groom led RFR drivers by placing third at the Baja 500, but Polaris still won the latter’s UTV overall with affiliated driver Branden Sims.

“Off-road racing has always been about proving yourself in the toughest terrain against the best drivers in the world,” Polaris head Reid Wilson said. “Since the inception of the RZR Factory Racing team, we’ve consistently proven ourselves as the benchmark in SCORE competition, and that dominance is exactly what inspired the SCORE Challenge. This initiative isn’t just about our team winning, it’s about creating an incentive for the entire field.

“If you think you’ve got what it takes to beat us, come line up and let’s go racing.”
