For the first time in its 59-year history, the Baja 1000 will be held solely in Baja California Sur. The course, revealed at the Off-Road Expo earlier this month, spans 964.96 miles for Pro classes starting and finishing at the southernmost tip in San José del Cabo.
The course is a single loop working in a counter-clockwise direction, featuring two coastal runs. Four physical checkpoints will be situated along El Centenario (RM 213.60), Ejido Ley Federal de Aguas No. 2 (RM 405.39), Ejido Francisco Villa (RM 604.07), and Santa Fe (RM 781.49).
Several speed zones are in place, such that there’s a very real possibility of speeding penalties coming into play for the overall.
Racers will have 40 hours each to complete the course.

SCORE is no stranger to the southern peninsula, having held the 2015 Baja Sur 500 in Los Cabos while the 2000 and 2007 Baja 1000s finished in Cabo San Lucas. Unlike the latter, this 1000 doesn’t cross into the state of Baja California.
The Los Cabos City Council agreed to host the race in September 2025. SCORE confirmed the move from its usual confines of Ensenada and La Paz shortly after. However, this is a one-off stop as the 2027 Baja 1000 returns to Ensenada for the 60th anniversary.
Qualifying will be on November 10, followed by racing on the 13th.
