The last race of the 2026 South African Rally-Raid Championship will include a classic rally car in the Audi Quattro. SARRC announced Wednesday that the Northam Zondereinde Bushveld 400 on November 13–14 will include a “Quattro Cup” for such vehicles.
“As the South African Rally-Raid Championship gears up for its fifth and final round of 2026, we’re looking forward to having the Audi Quattros join us for what promises to be an unforgettable motorsport weekend,” the series stated. “More cars, more excitement and even more reasons to come and experience the action in the heart of the Bushveld!”
The Quattro is one of the most iconic cars of the World Rally Championship in the 1980s, especially during the fast yet controversial Group B era. It won 23 rallies from 1984 to 1985 and a pair of championships before the class was killed off. Afterward, the Quattro dominated Pikes Peak.
In 2025, the Dutch Quattro Legends entered the Dakar Classic. Erik van Loon was the highest finisher in 31st overall ahead of Peter van den Bosch (53rd), Hans Stacey (57th), and Frits van Eerd (62nd). The team, with Marcel van Vliet replacing the sentenced van Eerd reconnected with their old rides in June at the Baja Lorca – Ciudad del Sol, competing in the Open class.
