June’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will mark the return of Ultra4 cars for the first time since 2011 when Phillip McGilton, Loren Healy, and Paul Wolff take part in their rock crawlers.

All three will be in the Exhibition class. Healy is signed up in his #67 Ford Bronco nicknamed “El Bandito”, Wolff will run the #101 UFO-built 4400, and McGilton is in the #447 4400 made by Campbell Enterprises.

“The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb has long welcomed a wide range of disciplines and competitors to the mountain,” race CEO Melissa Eickhoff stated. “Bringing back a fan favorite like the Ultra4 vehicles adds a fun element to the race while showcasing drivers and vehicles that thrive in some of the toughest conditions in motorsports.”

In February’s Race of Kings, Healy and Wolff had a dramatic battle where they went blow for blow into the night before both bowed out. McGilton also retired, the three being among the 80 of 82 cars to not complete the race.

Wolff is currently Ultra4 USA’s 4400 points leader, while McGilton sits 12th. Healy, a multi-time King of the Hammers winner and Ultra4 star, typically only runs a part-time schedule as he juggles rock crawling with other disciplines like desert racing.

Ultra4 last appeared at Pikes Peak in 2011 with series founder and KOH head honcho Dave Cole finishing third in Pikes Peak Open. JT Taylor was fourth ahead of Samuel Berri (sixth), Kevin Yoder (seventh), Roger Lovell (11th), and Matthew Peterson (12th). Brad Lovell, the Open runner-up that year, currently does the occasional Ultra4 race as fellow Ford factory driver like Healy and won KOH’s Every Man Challenge earlier this year.

“Ultra4 was built on the idea of doing what others won’t: taking on the toughest terrain, the biggest challenges, and figuring it out along the way,” Cole commented. “Pikes Peak is one of the most iconic races in the world, and bringing back Ultra4 isn’t just a moment; it’s a statement.”
