The second FIM Intercontinental Games has been moved from Kuwait to Brazil, the federation’s Board of Directors announced Wednesday. It has also been moved up from its original January 20–23, 2027 date to December 11–13, 2026.

Kuwait Motor Town was supposed to host the 2027 ICG, but the ongoing crisis in the Middle East led to the Board’s decision to move the event. Kuwait is friendly with the United States and hosts American military bases that have been targeted by Iran since the war began in late February. Six civilians have been killed in Kuwait by the strikes, leading to the country and its Gulf neighbors mobilizing air defenses. The conflict is currently in a ceasefire, but tensions remain high with an ongoing blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

Several races have been moved or postponed due to the war, though others have continued to take place under tighter security measures. Off-road events falling under the format category include the Rally Jameel in Saudi Arabia and the inaugural Oman International Baja whereas the latter had those like the Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge season finale and the Badawï Trail to the Last Oasis. The Dakar Rally will also continue in Saudi Arabia in 2027.

The Intercontinental Games are essentially the FIM’s version of the FIA Motorsport Games, but teams are divided by region rather than country: Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America, Europe, and Oceania. The inaugural edition took place in 2024 at Circuito de Jerez in Spain, solely for Supersport and Supersport 300 pavement bikes.

Motocross was added for the second Games, following the MX2 format.

Goiânia, a planned city in central Brazil, will be the new host.
