With SCORE relocating its first race of the season to Mexicali in 2027, San Felipe has signed a multi-year agreement to host NORRA’s own opener. The inaugural race day will be part of a new San Felipe Speed Fest planned for February 25–28, with NORRA set to compete on Saturday the 27th.
Mayor José Luis Dagnino López announced the festival on Wednesday alongside Robby Gordon. Gordon will also bring his Stadium Super Trucks out for a demo on Friday night, which he had also done at NORRA’s Mexican 1000 earlier this spring. Drift shows and concerts are planned throughout the weekend.
“We are very excited to bring NORRA to San Felipe,” said Gordon. “I think that this is a perfect venue for racing.
“Very happy that we were able to work out a long-term relationship here. We’ll be here for a long time with NORRA and this is adding a third race to our series. We’re super happy about it and looking forward to working with these guys. We’ve got a really good plan put together.”
San Felipe is a desert racing hotbed that most famously hosted SCORE’s San Felipe 250 from 1982 to 2026. However, disagreements between SCORE and local landowners prompted the move to Mexicali and rebranding as the Baja 250.
NORRA currently hosts two other races, the Mexican 1000 and NORRA 500. The San Felipe race will be the shortest as it’s just a one-day event whereas the 500 spans two days and the 1000 a full week. For 2027, however, the 1000 will be replaced by the Baja 10 Day Rally from Ensenada to Cabo and back; San Felipe will also host the final two stages.
“I feel confident about our future and hopefully all the locals will love us as well,” Gordon continued. “Eliseo Garcia, my director of racing and partner, does a wonderful job, very professional and I believe that he will be able to handle this job and do at the highest level.”
