Kyle Chaney made history when he piloted the Can-Am Maverick R to victory in the Race of Kings at the 2025 King of the Hammers, the first UTV driver to claim the main event in Johnson Valley. However, he’s now with the other team.

On Monday, Polaris announced Chaney has joined RZR Factory Racing for “select premier U.S. off-road races” including Hammers.

“Kyle is a decorated off-road racer and his relentless desire to win makes him an incredible addition to RZR Factory Racing,” team boss Alex Scheuerell stated. “Our factory racing program has always been about pushing the limits of what’s possible with the RZR Pro R Factory, and Kyle shares the same mentality. This is a long-term commitment that extends beyond adding another great driver. Kyle’s experience across so many forms of racing will be invaluable to our team moving forward.”

Chaney had long been a factory driver for Can-Am. Besides Hammers, where he also boasts four straight UTV Hammers titles, he’s enjoyed success in short course—both in a UTV and a Pro 4—and did the Mint 400 in March.

In January, Chaney made his Dakar Rally debut in a Maverick R. Despite several tire problems, he finished runner-up in SSV behind his new RZR Factory teammate Brock Heger.

“I’m incredibly excited to join Polaris and RZR Factory Racing,” added Chaney. “I’ve competed against them for years, so I know the level they operate and the drive they have to compete and win each and every race. When the opportunity presented itself, it was a no-brainer to be a part of the program they’re building.”

He isn’t the only Can-Am driver to switch sides in recent years. Joe Terrana did the same ahead of last year’s Baja 1000, followed by Rodrigo Ampudia in May.
