Stuck in the dunes of Glamis or the rocks of Johnson Valley? BRP’s got you covered.

On Tuesday, the company revealed the Can-Am Defender Recovery Rig. As the name suggests, it is a 6×6 Defender that’s been converted for use as a rescue vehicle.

When a vehicle needs to be extracted, the Rig has a wrecker-style recovery and tow system that uses winches, snatch blocks, and kinetic recovery ropes. The driver can also activate the BRP Diagnostic Software (BUDS 3) to figure out if the disabled car is because of something electronic like fuel injection or sensors.

Once the afflicted is pulled out, the Rig has jump starters for 12V electrical systems to help it restart.

The rig has a six-foot conversion cargo bed with 3,000 pounds of towing capacity. Inside the bed are factory Can-Am gear like the Kinetic Recovery Kit, Linq racks, cargo boxes, and Makita Tools and Sandcraft parts. Other systems include high-speed satellite connectivity via Starlink, a high-CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) air compressor and storage tank, etc.

The Defender Recovery Rig will be available at the 2027 King of the Hammers, Mud Nationals, UTV Takeover, and Glamis Halloween. For Glamis, it’ll be at Oldsmobile Hill, Old Wash Road, Osborne Overlook, and Competition Hill.

It’s not the first time since August that BRP has been playing with the Defender line of utility side-by-side. That month, the company unveiled a concept Defender Prerunner that’s also a six-wheeled unit but is based on Trophy Trucks and rock crawlers.
