205 Africa Raid is the latest rally raid team to confirm their presence at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The French outfit plans to bring a Peugeot 205 T16 Grand Raid along with a Citroƫn ZX Rallye Raid.
“The Dakar Rally is in the spotlight at Goodwood this year, and we are particularly proud to have been selected to showcase to the British public two vehicles that made rally-raid history,” said the team. “From July 9 to 12, we will have the pleasure of sharing our passion with thousands of visitors from all over the world.
“To all 205 Africa Raiders: this is your invitation too.”
As the name suggests, 205 Africa Raid specializes in prepping the Peugeot 205 T1 Grand Raid for rally raids and other events in Africa. The 205 line enjoyed much success in the World Rally Championship with drivers like Ari Vatanen, Juha Kankkunen, and Timo Salonen, before the Grand Raid variant was introduced for the ParisāDakar Rally. The T16 won four straight Dakars from 1987 to 1990 courtesy of Vatanen and Kankkunen.
The Citroƫn ZX Rallye Raid starred at Dakar in the 1990s, with Vatanen winning in 1991 before Pierre Lartigue three-peated between 1994 and 1996.
205 fielded its own Peugeot at the Dakar Classic in 2022, where Rudy Jacquot finished 24th overall and second in H3. His father Philippe is also a Dakar veteran.
For 2026, Goodwood is putting extra emphasis on Dakar and its history. Others invited include Gazelles Offroad Team’s 1988 Land Rover 110, Toyota Gazoo Racing’s DKR GR Hilux, and the Africa Eco Race.
