The Mini John Cooper Works Buggy that Carlos Sainz drove to victory in the 2020 Dakar Rally is on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and is also up for sale.
The line was introduced for the 2018 Dakar Rally, with Sainz joining the crew in 2019 from Peugeot. He and fellow ex-Peugeot driver StƩphane Peterhansel went on to win the 2020 and 2021 Dakars, the first two editions in Saudi Arabia, with Sainz recording four stage victories in his run.
It is an RWD car built by X-raid. The vehicle measures in at 170.6 inches long by 86.6 inches wide and 76.2 inches tall, while weighing 3,692.7 pounds flled.
X-raid has long maintained a close relationship with Mini before and after the Buggy, with Peterhansel winning the 2012 and 2013 Dakars in the Mini All4 Racing. The JCW Rally was introduced in 2016 before being replaced by the Buggy. In 2023, the JCW Rally Plus succeeded the Buggy.
Once sold, the car at Goodwood will als ocome with an FIA passport and spare parts.
The Mini is one of several rally raiders at Goodwood this weekend alongside the new Odyssey CR-X, Sainz’s current rider Ford Raptor, Toyota Hilux, G Rally G-ECKO, 1988 Land Rover 110 and Defender Dakar D7X-R, Peugeot 205 T16 Grand Raid and CitroĆ«n ZX Rallye Raid, and a Mercedes-Benz 500SLC and SMG 2WD.
