With the Goodwood Festival of Speed focusing on rally raid for its 2026 theme, João Monteiro will be among those on hand as the representative for Portugal.
“From July 9 to 12, I will be attending one of the most iconic events in global motorsport,” said Monteiro. “It’s a privilege to be part of an event that brings together history, innovation, and some of the biggest names in motorsport.”
A three-time national SSV champion, Monteiro currently races the Maverick R for Can-Am Factory Team in the World Rally-Raid Championship. After finishing fourth in SSV at the season-opening Dakar Rally, he was runner-up on home soil at the Rally-Raid Portugal (but the highest among points-registered SSV drivers).
Portugal is a rally raid hotbed whose CPTT is one of the most competitive national championships in the world. Many like Monteiro have gone on to do great things after their domestic successes including João Ferreira and Gonçalo Guerreiro.
Several rally raiders have also confirmed they will attend the festival like Toyota Gazoo Racing, Gazelles Offroad Team, 205 Africa Raid, and Defender Rally.
